Michael Hart has again opened his mouth and shouted off about the quality he thinks Aberdeen have in their squad for next season and this time he`s got Celtic in his sights.

Fans of the SPL will remember that one of last season`s most memorable (or sadly unforgettable) moments was our confident right back insisting that we`d take care of Rangers in Glasgow as we had better players etc but only to lose 3-0 in an emphatic Ibrox trouncing with Mickey`s misplaced words used by Walter Smith to motivate his players.

Although Mickey was proved right on the last day of the season when the Dons produced their finest performance of the full term to beat Rangers 2-0, Hart`s ramblings were still a sore point as it was believed he`d pretty much cost us the chance of catching Rangers for the Champion`s League place but it seems he hasn`t really learned as he suggests that Celtic won`t be fully into their stride by the time they come knocking on the 18th of August, the third week of the new SPL fixtures.

So Gordon Strachan will obviously make sure that they very much are now.

The worlds worst surprise specialist said, ‘We have to play Celtic at some stage and I think we can find some early form and catch them off guard. We will need to get some decent early results.

‘We think we can beat anybody at Pittodrie and will be going all out to prove that.’

It`s not an easy opening run of games for the Dons by any means as they kick off the season against Dundee United at Tannadice which commences a rock hard run of matches as they then face Hearts, Celtic, Hibs, Kilmarnock, Motherwell and Rangers all in succession which means they will face all of last seasons six clubs in the opening seven matches.

But Michael is unfazed and can`t wait for yet another titanic clash in the New Firm derby and to get the SPL season underway.

He said ‘The derby is definitely a great start to the season for us. The last two occasions we played them down there the atmosphere was absolutely unbelievable.

‘We always take around 3000 fans down so it is always pretty ferocious.

‘It will be an important game because both teams will be desperate to get off to a good start. We need to do that because it will set the tone for the rest of the season. We’ve also not forgotten the defeats against them last season.

‘It is important for us to get a good pre-season under our belts but even more important to win our first match. And there is no bigger game than this one to start the season.’

Hart`s enthusiasm and optimism has only been further fuelled by the arrival of some quality players at Pittodrie, one of which is Dundee United old boy Lee Mair who can expect a welcoming verbal volley from his Arab friends on his return

Hart said: ‘Lee will be looking forward to the game no matter what they shout. It will be good to get it out of the way.’

‘We have added some quality names to the squad and will go through the pre-season hoping we can keep everybody fit.

‘There are a lot of ifs and buts about us splitting the Old Firm or even being above them and it will be difficult but we will give it everything.’

air enough Mikey, glad you`re ready for action and confident the club is going places but telling the other teams how good you think Aberdeen are can only make them strive harder to beat us, don`t you think?

And besides, one of those new quality players you were bragging about might just be taking your place so your better doing all your talking on the pitch mate.

We`re all glad that you`re confident in your team mates but please just shut up about it until you actually win something.
