The Dons squad numbers are revealed and they perhaps give us a few clues as to how Jimmy Calderwood intends to set his team out.

After all the pre-season debate about the goalkeeper shirt and who would be standing on the goal line come matchday, it`s Jamie Langfield who holds onto the number 1 jersey but it is still expected that Derek Soutar will start against Dundee United come Saturday.

The next piece of evidence which should help us plot Jimmy`s pecking order and who he believes is in his top team is the fact that Jackie McNamara will be wearing Russell Anderson`s number 4 forcing the likes of Karim Touzani, Andy Considine and Lee Mair way down the numbers list.

Ricky Foster should sign his new contract before the United match but he has not taken over the constantly injured Richie Byrne`s number 3 although he will certainly feature more than the Irishman at left back until Byrne`s leg injury is finally resolved, if that ever happens.

As usual the number 12 is reserved for the Dons fans, the twelfth man and number 13 is looked over for superstitious reasons but Richie Byrne must believe it`s his shirt that`s cursed after the injury hell he`s been through at Pittodrie.

The full squad numbers for this season are as follows:
