Aberdeen are said to monitoring Dean Shiels situation at Hibernain closely. It has been said that he was a major player in the recent mutiny and therefore John Collins my want rid of him and use him as a example to other players that he will not tolerate anymore backstabbing.

Shiels is not a first choice pick by any means under Collins but he`s notched

ine goals in his limited starts and Jimmy Calderwood was reportedly interested in Dean prior to the ex-Arsenal trainee signing his Hibs contract which will expire in 2009.

Calderwood again had a first chance view to appreciate Dean`s talents as he rounded Jamie Langfield on Saturday before scoring from an acute angle as he slipped the ball between the Dons keeper and Ricky Foster on the goal line.

Dean is a fans favourite at Easter Road and his performances have so far earned him 2 Northern Ireland caps but he gained all of Scottish football`s respect when he had his right eye removed after a domestic incident but has still returned to great form.

Jimmy will watch the situation develop but as far as the 22 year old`s agent is concerned, there is no drama or anything likely to transpire.

Jim McArthur said’Dean has a contract with Hibs and no one from the club has said a word to me about him becoming available.

‘I understand people might like him because he has not been in the team and clubs think they have a chance of nipping in and getting him. But John Collins has not been in touch with me about wanting to move him on.

‘If he didn’t have a future at Hibs, I would have expected him to call me.

‘I know John very well and I think he would have said something if Dean was not in his plans.

‘We have not been given permission to talk to other clubs and, as far as I am concerned, Dean is a Hibs player until 2009 and will remain so until he is told differently.’

hat do you think, would Dean be a good addition to the Dons squad and is he of a higher standard than that which is already there?
