Aberdeen are represented in the latest Scottish Professional Football League team of the week that has been selected after this week’s action.

The best eleven was selected by Craig Fowler.

The performance by Willo Flood and Niall McGinn in Aberdeen’s two nil victory against Dundee at the weekend at Dens Park was enough to earn them a place in the side alongside the other most impressive performers in the Scottish League pyramid.

I think we’ll already know ourselves, and not just based on the latest performance, why Flood and McGinn were selected as part of the team but explaining the choice – the SPFL blurb read.

Flood –

‘The midfielder’s stamina and energy played a big part in Aberdeen’s victory over Dundee. During their poor run, the Dons would sometimes look a little lacking in tempo and urgency. Flood is a player who can change all that and his drive at Dens Park continually unsettled the hosts and pushed his team forward.’

McGinn –

‘The Aberdeen attacker had his namesake Paul struggling at Dens Park. McGinn twisted inside and out throughout the first half and put Aberdeen on the road to victory with a well-taken opener as they reduced the gap on leaders Celtic to just four points ahead of Saturday`s Pittodrie clash with third-placed Hearts.’

It’s always good to see us represented in this way, and well played to Flood and McGinn for their recognition, but the most important thing about the weekend was of course returning to back to back wins.

Full Team:

Michal Szromnik (Dundee United), Scott Brown (Dumbarton), Frazer Wright (Dumbarton), Dave Mackay (St Johnstone), Jason Talbot (Dunfermline Athletic), Mark Lamont (Sterling Albion), David Wotherspoon (St Johnstone), Willo Flood (Aberdeen), Josh Falkingham (Dunfermline Athletic), Niall McGinn (Aberdeen), Kris Boyd (Kilmarnock).
