Will Jimmy be able to pull this major coup off? If he can then he is a genius in the salesman department.

With Rangers, Celtic and Wolves all declared interested and with money to spend, Calderwood’s only chance is selling the club on it’s future and the part his sees Gow playing in that. European football at some level seems likely next season, the squad looks like it will stay together at least until then and Jimmy can sell Aberdeen on the steady progress already made.

He obviously has things to tempt Gow but the other clubs bidding can offer hard cash but Aberdeen seem to have an ally in his manager John Hughes. Yogi of course will try and tempt his player to stay but Gow, at 24, seems ambitious almost certain to leave. Hopefully luckily for Aberdeen, Hughes values his contribution to the team for the rest of this season higher than the £100,000 Rangers and Wolves have supposedly put on the table and wont let him go for that. £500,000 is allegedly to be the asking price for him to go this window.

Interest in the player has raised since the stunning goal he scored against Aberdeen, the hat-trick bagged against Dundee United and the phenomenal top corner precsion shot against Berwick at the weekend.

John Hughes knows the value of his hitman even if his suitors don’t fully agree. He said ‘This season is vital for the club and it’s crucial we have at our disposal all our current resources including Alan.’

‘Supporters should realise that there are a large number of clubs who appear to be interested in securing Alan’s services and there will no doubt be further discussions during the transfer window,’

If Jimmy can tempt him then he should try his luck punting some of the beach sand to the Arabs down the road.
