Fans’ favourite Sone Aluko has said he may well return to Pittodrie should his career go tits up at Birmingham. But the 19 year old is determined to make his break through into the Blues side.

He told the Press and Journal: ‘I need to be challenging to get into the Blues side now, this is probably the biggest season of my career. Given a chance, I’m sure I can add something to the team.’

Aluko joined Aberdeen at the start of last season on a season long loan. His trickery, flair and spectacular goals won him over with the Dons fans. Goals such as his one at Motherwell at the end of last season, where he volleyed across the face of the goal in Van Basten style, will long be remembered by the Aberdeen faithful.

‘Jimmy Calderwood said that he will keep a space for me, which is good to know’. Someone should tell Calderwood he only needs to keep one space and not 7 or 8.
