Jimmy Calderwood has quashed all rumours of his link to bringing in Motherwell`s Brian Kerr to replace Gary Dempsey by throwing a bucket of ice cold water over the situation with the statement ‘I have no interest in Brian Kerr.’

It has been thought that the twice capped Scottish internationalist had been interesting Jimmy and when Kerr made the comments below prior to Celtic signing Motherwell`s greatest asset it looked like the chance to bring Kerr to Pittodrie could be very realistic.

Kerr said ‘I am speaking to Motherwell about extending my contract and I am keen to stay here because the club is going in the right direction.

‘The only problem is we can’t afford to lose Scott McDonald if we want to go forward as a club.

‘If you start to lose your better players and the other players see that there’s not a big name to take the club forward then I think those players will want to kick on and make sure their own careers go forward.

‘So, I think if Scott goes then it will make other players’ stay-or-go decisions easier.’

Kerr obviously has a lot of thinking to do but moving to the Granite City does not appear to be a choice the ex-Newcastle player will have the opportunity of making and Jimmy`s hunt to find Dempsey`s successor continues.
