Three-nil up from a stunning first leg win in Croatia against a side without a home defeat in European competition in a dozen ties, Aberdeen were in dreamland a week ago but now we’ve got to come out of that haze to make sure we finish the job against Rijeka.

The Dons are 90-minutes away from a step closer to the Europa League proper, to do that we’ve got to make sure Rijeka can’t stun us at Pittodrie like we did them in their backyard mind!

It goes without saying Derek McInnes is naming an unchanged squad from that first leg win.

Without the need to make changes he could even name the same XI with the only absentee of course Mark Reynolds, the defender is out until October due to his injury in an earlier Europa League tie.

Rijeka themselves will be without Marko Leskovic (hamstring) and Dario Knezevic (foot injury) so they’re light in defence but still have plenty of international ability to come in and within their squad.

If, I’m not going to say when as that’s way too dangerous, we get through it’ll be against Kairat Almaty of Kazakhstan or Alashkert of Armenia but with the Kazakhstan side three-nil up after the first leg it’ll take an ‘Almaty’ comeback from Alashkert to deny them!

The worst thing for us to do is look to defend too much, sit back and invite too much pressure and we risk getting undone. If we’re too attack minded we could get caught so it’s about getting the balance right, and I’m certain McInnes will make sure we do that.

I’m also, and we’ve got to be, confident we’ll be advancing….aren’t you?
