It looks like the dilemma of whether Craig Brewster would be awarded a new contract at Aberdeen could be solved due to the veteran being linked back with his old Caley Thistle job.

He`s not the only candidate by any means with illustrious names such as Neil Warnock, John Robertson and most speculatively Steven Pressley, Celtic`s frozen out defender all being quoted as interested parties, Warnock very publicly admitting his desire for the Jags.

The Caley Fans seem to want the freshness of the ex-Sheffield United man who would be sure to bring plenty talking points to the SPL but Brewster and Robertson are both well respected up there and sometimes it`s easier to go with the devil you know.

But what would it mean for Aberdeen? Each time Brewster takes the field his manager is the first to commend him on his efforts and he was the star man in red on Sunday, something that should be a little embarrassing for a team full of international hopefuls.

Not to undermine our ex-Dundee United, Forfar, Dunfermline, Raith Rovers, Ionikos, Hibernian and of course Inverrness C.T. striker, he was in the team on merit and his experience is worth his place alone even if he has no chance of winning a chase for a long ball but he wins more than his fair share in the air which is a trait he doesn`t seem to have passed on to the other offensive players at the club.

The Dons would be losing a man capable of creating chances for others as he is brave enough to get his head in the dangerzone and whose awareness is on par with the league`s other 40 year old Russell Latapy, a player that has been frighteningly good for Falkirk so far.

The fact he started against Celtic`s big, tall defenders ahead of Steve Lovell and Lee Miller tells you why Calderwood wants him at the club and that` s because he holds the ball up so well to bring others into the play and then get himself into dangerous positions.

Whilst time has well ticked on his best years he can still do more than a job but perhaps he fancies waking up on a Sunday with a few less bruises and letting the youngsters take the knocks instead.

Nothing is clear for Brewster`s career although he will move back into management at some point but give us your views on what you think he should do with the Caley situation on our new poll.

Do you think he should hang up his boots at Pittodrie and head north?

Please take a second a click your thoughts on the subject.
