Skipper Russell Anderson is set to make a welcome return for Aberdeen when SPL basement-boys Dundee United visit Pittodrie on Saturday (Oct 21).
The 27-year-old defender, who has now been with the Dons for 10 years, was taken off during the 1-0 defeat against Rangers and forced to miss Scotland’s recent Euro 2008 qualifiers after suffering spasms in his hip.
The Dons looked lost without Anderson at Kilmarnock on Saturday (Oct 14) and were lucky to escape with a 1-0 loss – with the goal coming, perhaps as expected, from a defensive error.
Speaking today (Monday) told www.teamtalk.com, Dons boss Jimmy Calderwood said: ‘Russell trained and we will keep an eye on him over the next few days to see how his hip reacts. All being well, he should be back for Saturday.’
Striker Lee Miller is also expected to be fit in time for the weekend despite bruising his knee against Killie.
