Aberdeen had complained before the match that the conditions up north were not suitable for the fans to travel for this match at Celtic Park, after 65 mins they would have been glad those who turned up that the Dons and Jamie Langfield in particular, had kept the Celts at bay but after 90 minutes it was the home side who had blown away the challenge from the north as it was Stan Petrov the cut through the Dons defence better than any wind could even do !

Aberdeen had weathered the home storm but had lived dangerously and looked to their goalkeeper Jamie Langfield on more than one occassion to keep them in the match.

Petrov had a chance early on that was deflected over the bar,Zurawski shot weakly at Langfield when clean through,
these early warning’s should have been a wake up call for the Dons who also survived a penalty claim when a Maloney cross was handled by Diamond as the home side were trying to turn the screw.

Celtic are known for playing attractive flowing football and wave after wave of attack kept coming at the Aberdeen goal and Hartson was denied by the legs of Langfield as the Dons defence looked for offside !

Aberdeen tried to mount some attacks of their own and Scoyy Severin was denied by Boruc after turning McManus to make room for the shot.

The Dons thought they had taken the lead with a lovely Lovell finish, hooked over Boruc was disallowed for a foul.

Then Aberdeen had a great chance to open the scoring, when a great run by Richie Foster cut the Celtic defence open and as everyone expected the youngster to shoot,he tried to square the ball to Severin but this was cut out by the Celtic defence and as the ball broke back to the Dons youngster,Boruc blocked his shot and the chance was gone !

Celtic were about to up the pressure and they replaced John Hartson with Nakamura in 63 minutes,a move which turned the match in the home side’s favour !

Nakamura almost made the perfect start,as he was found in space just outside the box by Maloney and his shot was just turned away to safety for a corner by that man Langfield again !

After 65 minutes of holding out the Dons defence was finally breached by Celtic.Great wing play by Zurawski who found Petrov in space and he gave Langfield no chance with a thundering shot into the roof of the net to give Celtic a deserved lead.

After this goal the Dons heads went down and it was no surprise that Celtic went on to score more goals but they were laughable to say the least !

Telfer had found Keane with a good pass down the wing and the Irishman played a great ball acrosss that was unfotunately played off two Dons defenders right into the path of Shaun Maloney who blasted the ball into the net to make the game safe for Celtic.

Just to rub salt in the wounds another lovely move by Celtic involving a lovely one-two between Keane and Petrov handed Zurawski his goal on a plate and Celtic won the match 3-0 after such a good 63 mins from the Dons.

To make matters worse for the Dons both Snoyl and Nicholson were taken off injured and Nicholson has suspected broken ribs and could be out for some time !
