Aberdeen 0-0 Inverness Cally Thistle

Aberdeen were held to their 3rd 0-0 draw in 4 matches by their former tenants,Inverness Cally Thistle today at Pittodrie. Both teams had chances and the visitors had
goalkeeper Mark Brown to thank for producing three great
saves. But they could have stole the match when player Manager Craig Brewster missed a sitter when it was easier
to score. Both sides also hit the woodwork as they tried to break the deadlock but to no avail.
This means that the Dons have now only won once in ten matches and this is simply not good enough !
The fans expect better in the North and it is clear to
see that the club need an out and out goalscorer .
In days of old when players like Harper,McGhee,McDougall,
Black,Hewitt,Nicholas,Windass and Dodds hit the back of the net for fun and the Dons would have no fears about
going anywhere in Scotland and getting a result, things really have gone down hill and fast !
Can it really be 1995 since the Dons last won the Coca Cola Cup ? The trophy winning days have long become a thing of the past,a near League win, when Rangers won the League on the last day beating the Dons 2-0 at Ibrox.
Seeing two of their best players boss the Old Firm and knowing that they are capable of beating them on their day must stick in the throats of the Dons faithful !
Alex McLeish and Gordon Strachan used to strut their stuff against Rangers and Celtic on a regular basis but now they are bosses of the firm-the Old Firm !
Aberdeen on their day,as I said are as good as both of these clubs but it is not the Old Firm the Dons have to beat,it is the Motherwell’s,Falkirk’s and the team that they must face in the Scottish Cup third round next week,
Dundee United. Both Aberdeen and United used to be the dominate forces in not only the Scottish game but the European game also, how things have changed !
Both sit in 8th and 9th place in the SPL and if fans are being true to themselves, they would say that their best days are behind them.
This match next week could make or break one of these clubs as both are out of the CIS Cup and both have no chance of winning the League.Lets hope that they put on a show for the fans and also that more faces follow Danny Griffin through the Pittodrie door.
Maybe now that Scott Severin has signed his new deal also we will see a settled player and the team will benefit from that also.
Message for Jimmy, best wishes for 2006,have a beer then get to the January sales to see if you can find a goalscorer ! Duffy or Thompson maybe ?
