Aberdeen just edged out Falkirk in this match with a narrow 1-0 thanks to a goal from on form Jamie Smith.
The Dons had goalkeeper Jamie Langfield to thank for keeping them in this match as he stopped various efforts from Falkirk’s McBreen from giving the Bairns an early lead, saving one with his legs and a diving save from a McBreen header !
The Dons soon got in to their stride and had reason to celebrate as a Nicholson header hit a Falkirk hand but Smith wasted no time in blasting the ball past Ferguson to give the Dons a 1-0 lead.
Aberdeen should have gone 2-0 up,when Chris Clark found space and instead of playing the ball to Nicholson,he shot high and wild over the bar.
The game became a bit scrappy after that with both sides having half chances to score but neither did and the Dons held on for a 1-0 win.
Only low point was that Jamie Smith had to limp off injured and has had to pull out of the Scotland squad for Wednesday’s match v the Swiss.
