The Aberdeen goalkeeping dilemma rolls on. Jamie Langfield is still at the club, nobody appears to want Derek Soutar in goal and Greg Kelly is being taken on the Egypt tour.
Jamie Langfield started the Buckie Thistle match yesterday but Calderwood told the fans that he would be doing do even before Derek Soutar`s mistake against Cove Rangers which many believe resulted in the penalty award.
Greg Kelly will travel to Egypt but probably will not get any match time as Calderwood will look to give Soutar all the experience he can as it`s clear that Jimmy`s mind is made up on the ‘keeper situation.
Jimmy defended his new number 1 and admonished him of any blame that he was the cause of the Buckie penalty decision.
Calderwood said, ‘It is nonsense to say Derek Soutar made a mistake. He grabbed the ball, but didn’t drop it. It got pulled out of his hand because the other player was wrestling with him, yet we got a penalty given against us. Derek had a good game against Cove and he will still be playing in the first game of the season.’
So with all links to a new face on the goal line drying up, Jimmy is going to sink or swim with what he has.
