Sometimes it’s not just the players on the field we look up to, but sometimes even those standing next to us.

A veteran of the terraces, Norman from Aberdeen was unprovokedly attacked on Friday night on Abbotswell Road.

The 79 year old was taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary after witnesses called for help. It was later discovered he suffered multiple fractures and bruising. It is believed the man who attacked him is in his 20s.

Norman is a well known figure amongst the Aberdeen supporters and easily spotted, covered head to toe in Aberdeen merchandise. It’s hard to miss him at any match.

Every other week he makes the trek from Torry to Pittodrie to give the Dons all the support he can.

The attack has shocked the red army and everyone at Vital Football wishes Norman the speediest of recoveries.
