Marley Watkins has apparently decided he’s ready to turn his back on the Scottish Premiership and return to England with a move to League 1 side Barnsley preferred to a move to Pittodrie?

The Press and Journey has reported that Derek McInnes’ interest in bringing the Inverness midfielder to Aberdeen will fail as the 24-year-old has decided he wants to go back to England, having joined Inverness from Hereford United back in 2013.

Watkins, one of those that helped Inverness to the Scottish Cup last season as he scored one and created the other in a two-one win over Falkirk, is leaving Caley on a free at the end of his contract.

It’s claimed that we made an offer to the winger but he rejected this earlier this week as the Welshman has decided he wants to join Lee Johnson’s Barnsley instead with his signing close.

Should this prove to be the case we have to move onto our next target!
