Aberdeen won an away match for the second week in a row but this time it was they who raced in to a 2-0 lead after early mistakes from the Hibs defence as they survived an onslaught to come away with a 2-1 win.
The Dons were looking to continue were they had left off last week at Tannadice, only this time they wanted to make sure that they did not have to come from two goals behind to do so !
The traveling Dons support could not have believed how easily their side took the lead .
Early pressure and a long ball proved too much for the Hibs skipper,Gary Caldwell as he dwelt too long on his next move, his pass was intercepted by on form Stevie Crawford, who calmly rounded Malkowski and knocked the ball into the empty net. 1-0 to the Dons !
The Hibs skipper was being booed from some of the home support as he has been linked with a move to Celtic and they could not have been happy with his error for the first goal.
Thinking that they would have learned from the first goal, the Hibs support could not have believed that another error would give the Dons a 2-0 lead !
Again the home defence-Hogg and Malkowski-got themselves in a pickle, one leaving the ball to the other and this allowed Darren Mackie to nip in and roll the ball into the net to put the Dons 2-0 up !
Hibs had made school boy error’s and were edging their way back into the match and now started to have chances of their own with O Connor and Stewart going close for the home side.
Riordan then came close and forced a good save from Jamie Langfield.
In the second half of the match,Hibernian were playing much better football and were creating chances and were really unlucky not to score when a great piece of skill by Riordan,a very clever chip caught Langfield off his line but his luck was out as the ball hit the post and went straight into the keeper’s arms !
Riordan again was at the centre of Hibs best chance of a lifeline in the second half when he was fouled by Nicholson in the box and the referee had no doubt but to award a penalty.
Riordan stepped up to take the kick and sent Langfield the wrong way but the ball came back off the inside of the post and went to safety.
Hibs again were unlucky !
Jimmy Calderwood decided to make a change sending Muirhead on for Smith to try and hold the green tide but they had to hold out for a nervy last ten minutes.
Langfield again denied Brown with a great save.
Hibs were trying to get the goal that would have been reward for all their efforts and it would come in the final minute.Hibs were awarded a free-kick at the edge of the box and Scott Muirhead was booked as he charged the ball too early and as Caldwell found Whittaker in space,he blasted the ball through Langfield to give the Hibees the goal their play deserved !
2-1 to the Dons but the drama was not over as Scott Muirhead was shown the red card for kicking the ball away but the Dons held on for the win !
on for Crawford 78
on for Smith 82
Jimmy Calderwood top marks for another away win !
Jimmy has got the Dons moving again but they have another hard match next week v Dundee United.
Big Mogga has the Hibees playing well and in the top half
of the table,he is one of the good guys of Scottish football and his team will play much worse than this and win.Still in third place.
