Jimmy Calderwood has revealed why he will not be retaining the services of Dutchman Dyron Daal and it`s a combination of finances as well as Jimmy feeling that the player is still not quite at the level he requires for a first team player.

Dyron was brought to Pittodrie from Utrecht as an amateur player which meant that he was paid only expenses and despite scoring two goals in seven games for Aberdeen as well as five goals in seven for Dundee during his loan period there, Jimmy is unwilling to offer him a professional contract which he would be forced to do since Dyron is now ineligible for amateur status anymore.

Jimmy had offered Dyron another six months as an amateur player but the 23 year old cannot accept another offer of that type and will now pursue interest in him from the American MLS although several Scottish clubs, including Dundee, are said to be interested.

‘I thought Dyron still had another six months as an amateur player, which is not the case.

‘The fact he is now eligible to turn professional again changes the finances which would be involved in keeping him here.

‘We would have had to pay more than the expenses he got when he was here as an amateur and we were not willing to do it.

‘To get to our level, he has to be a lot more aggressive and that is what has let him down.

‘We had Dyron watched at Dundee and he did well. The reports on him were good and he got five goals there, which wasn’t a bad average.

‘I have spoken to him and he is very disappointed to leave, although there is a lot of interest in him elsewhere and a few people have phoned me about him.’

The big 6`4″ striker was a popular figure around Pittodrie and everyone at the club wishes him well for the future.

he ever revolving Pittodrie door might not see Jonathan Kurrant walk through it as apparently SPL new boys Gretna are interested in making him an offer but the ex-Charlton player could be more interested in joining Coventry City who have also declared that they have been impressed by him.

as anybody seen Jonathan Kurrant play?
