As the Dons were not in Scottish Cup action today, due to their defeat by Hearts in the last round, and the absence of the Old Firm for the first time since 1987,the focus fell on the Edinburgh duo Hearts and Hibs as they claimed their Semi-Final place’s with wins over both Partick Thistle and Falkirk but the team who will grab all the morning headlines are the Second Division pace setters,Gretna !

Rowan Alexander’s team beat the First Division leaders St.Mirren 1-0,to send their supporters and Owner/Director,Brookes Mileson wild with delight !

Their success story is almost unbelievable !
2001-2002 7th in the Unibond League
2002-2003 6th in Scottish Division 3
2004-2005 1st in Scottish Division 3
2005-2006 1st in Scottish Division 2 (League not over yet)
2005-2006 In Scottish Cup Semi-Final after 1-0 win over St.Mirren with a goal from that man again Kenny Deuchar.

Brooks Mileson has put his money where his mouth is and he just loves football,so it is great to see such a man and a team get their rewards.

Who would bet against them and the man who stands with the fans because that is what he is,a fan !

I take my hat off to guys like him and I hope Gretna win the Division and upset the odds and go on to win the Scottish Cup !

Remember when the Dons used to upset the odds in Glasgow ? Are Gretna the Scottish Chelsea in the making ?

Good Luck to them and Thanks to Vital Football Editor
Neil Baker for all his help this evening and I am sure he will enjoy today’s result for many days to come !
