Former Aberdeen hero Peter Weir has returned to the club as the man who will in charge of finding the talent for the club in the West of Scotland.

Peter will follow in the footsteps of the late Bobby Calder, who brought through players such as Willie Miller,Alex McLeish,Jim Leighton,Arthur Graham,Bobby Clark,Archie Glen,Tommy Craig and Charlie Cooke.
Bobby past away in 1983 and gave the Dons 34 years of loyal service.

Peter was one of the 11 players who brought the Cup Winners Cup and Super Cup to Pittodrie in 1983,when the Dons were at their best and were named European team of the year by a French football magazine.

For anyone too young to remember Peter,do yourself a favour and try and see if you can get a tape of the second leg of the UEFA Cup match against Ipswich, the then holders of the trophy, when Peter ripped Mick Mills and the Ipswich defence apart in a great game at Pittodrie.

Failing that, you could always get a tape of the Cup Winners Cup Final when Peter and the Dandy Dons beat Real Madrid and he set up Mark McGhee for the cross to John Hewitt for the winning goal.

Surely any kid would want to listen and train with a man who has so much talent!

Welcome back Peter, keep those boots handy!
