The Dons have been hit with injury problems ahead of their clash with Dundee United at Pittodrie on Saturday (Oct 21).

Striker Dyron Daal, 23, has broke a bone in his hand during a reserve team match against Rangers on Tuesday (Oct 17) and has been ruled out for up to six weeks.

Aberdeen boss Jimmy Calderwood told the Aberdeen Evening Express: ‘Dyron’s hand is now in plaster and we have been told it will be five or six weeks before he is fit again.

‘It is a real shame for the lad because he had just started to make his big push for a first team place.’

Calderwood had recently told Dutchman Daal, who is at Aberdeen on amateur terms, that he had to show more consistency if he was to challenge strikers Darren Mackie and Lee Miller for a regular first-team place (see here).

Defensive duo Zander Diamond and Dan Smith will miss the Dundee United match after picking-up injuries during training, while skipper Russell Anderson and midfielder Jamie Smith are set to return to action.
