Kasper Schmeichel is being pushed further down the pecking order at Manchester City as they sign teenage Slovakian ‘keeper Filip Mentel on a new two year deal.

The son of Man U legend Peter has been hotly tipped to be Jamie Langfield`s replacement but only if the disgraced ex-Dons number one moves on and new City boss Sven Goran-Ericsson doesn`t fancy the 20 year old ‘keeper who has had loan spells at Darlington and Bury as well as last season at Falkirk where he done enough to convince Aberdeen fans that he`s the one they want between the sticks next season.

Young Kasper received an unexpected 33% of the total votes in the Vital Aberdeen latest poll which asked “Who Do You Want In Goal Next Season?”

Kasper was up against many international goalkeepers with much more experience and years in the game but the Dons fans made him the clear favourite with the next most popular being David Marshall with 16%.

Derek Soutar will be the Dons number one next season unless a new man is brought in and he can be at least pleased that he was next in line by those who voted with 10% which at least shows that the fans are willing to give him a chance.

It remains to be seen if Aberdeen can tempt the young Kasper north but if they can, it may go some way to appeasing the fans if Russell Anderson, as expected, does sign for a Premiership team.
