Let Me Entertain You

Boss Jimmy Calderwood wants to win back fans by entertaining them. The Dons boss adventurous approach is a breath of fresh air to the game.

Speaking to the Aberdeen Evening Express, Calderwood said: ‘I doubt if there are many other managers in the SPL who would start with just two at the back.

‘I’m sure the fans who came along enjoyed it and I hope it will persuade others to come along.

‘We seem to be the only team willing to take gambles like that at home in a bid to make games more entertaining.’

You have to take your hat off to that kind of attitude, if only other teams in the SPL would take the same approach we would surely have one of the most entertaining leagues around.

This approach seemed to work well against Dundee United on Saturday and Calderwood revealed it was worth the risk, he said: ‘We took a lot of chances but it was worth it in the end, It worked a dream and we got the desired result, so I would be happy to do it again at Pittodrie.

‘We only gave away one chance, when Jamie Langfield made a great save. Otherwise, we had loads of possession and got our reward.’

One would find it hard to argue with him, mind you, it was ONLY Dundee United. Let’s not get too excited just yet.

I like what Calderwood is saying – and that it makes me feel confident. There was a buzz at Pittodrie on Saturday and it was a shame the crowd wasn’t bigger. If he keeps taking risks – and getting away with it – I’m sure the numbers will swell.

really refreshing to see and hear this… trying to play honest attacking and attractive football is the best way to try and win them back… it is not always the easiest.. but I admire his honest and open commitment to this and to the fans………
