Kenny McLean has said he’s delighted with his move to Aberdeen having become one of Derek McInnes January captures.

Coming to us from St Mirren, the player explained to the Official Site that he believed the club were on the up and he couldn’t wait to play his part in that now.

‘My agent phoned me this morning to say a deal was on and it was a case of just getting in the car and driving up for the medical and the signing of the various papers. Aberdeen is a club on the up, that’s for sure, and the ambition being shown by the gaffer with the players secured on long term deals, and the players coming in, was a massive incentive for me.’

McLean goes on to say that he already knows Ryan Jack, Nicky Low and Clark Robertson from his days as a youth player, so this transfer feels ‘exactly the right one’ for him at this stage in his career.

‘I had some great times at St Mirren and I wish them all the best for the future, but I’m now an Aberdeen player which is fantastic.’

McLean will be officially unveiled to the press on Wednesday, and we have handed him the No 7 shirt for the remainder of this season.
