Aberdeen`s` main men Russell Anderson and Scott Severin have been rewarded for their consistent club form this season by being included in Alex McLeish`s first squad.

Perhaps tellingly of his future ambitions, Alex McLeish has named a very defense heavy squad for Sunday`s two day training “get together” None of the strikers he has chosen are current first picks for their clubs this season although Boyd is getting much more game time under old Scotland manager Walter Smith at Ibrox.

Dons players such as Chris Clark, Lee Miller, Darren Mackie, Barry Nicholson, Jamie Langfield and Jamie Smith must see the squad and its obvious limitations in quality and depth and use this to spur themselves on to be pushing for international honors. Mackie and Clark are in the B squad which does consist of some young, exciting Scottish talent and they`ll be happy to have caught the new managers`eye but more consistency and sharpness in front of goal could see them propelled to the big boys. Lee Miller`s recent lack of goals and ineffectiveness has seen him ejected from the B squad pool. Alex McLeish obviously does not share Jimmy’s belief that Jamie Langfield is quality enough as 3 Championship ‘keepers have been chosen ahead of him.

The full squad for Sundays` meet is:-
