Derek McInnes, understandably, publically is refusing to look beyond our second round second leg qualifier against Rijeka on Thursday but many of us will have one eye on our next trek!

Privately I wouldn’t think, to be fair, McInnes is celebrating too much either as we look to get the job done….

Lithuania and Croatia have so far been taken in and so long as we can see through the second leg of our qualifier with Rijeka at Pittodrie on Thursday, which with us three-nil up we’re in an incredibly strong position, a trip to Kazakhstan probably awaits.

With that would come a mammoth 8,000-mile round trip journey to take on Kairat Almaty.

Obviously this is working on the assumption that, like us, big spending Kairat will hold onto a three-nil lead they have from the first leg against Armenian side Alashkert, who knocked out St Johnstone in the last round.

The Rijeka tie isn’t over, we’ve got to be very guarded against assuming it is too much, but many of us fans will have one eye on our next move as, all being well, the European adventure continues.

A monstrous trek wouldn’t be enviable mind!
