Remember Norman Goldie, the 79 year old veteran of the terraces fallen victim of an unprovoked attack last Friday? His sister Jess responds to the red army’s support via RedWeb.

Norman, his brother Alex and me, his Sister Jess, would like to thank you all for your overwhelming comments on Norman’s ordeal. We have been keeping him updated on what is being said on your website. We are all overwhelmed by your kindness and concern for him. It certainly looks as if Norman is very recognisable by the Dons supporters. It does concern us sometime on his insistence on wearing his ‘colours’ but he is adamant in showing his allegiance to the Dons and to anyone else who may not know what team he supports.

May I, through your website, express our thanks to Grampian Police and the paramedics who responded so quickly to my brother’s 999 call, the staff at ARI, Aberdeen Football Club, Joe Harper and all the various media outlets for their attention to this very vicious attack on an elderly gent.

Norman’s spirit is high and his wounds will heal and he is already talking about going to his first game – I think we will have to tie him to his bed to stop him going!!. He has however agreed that his evening walks will not be so late.

Thank you all so much for his cards, flowers and your best wishes but most of all your concern for him.
