It was for most of the way a two horse race, but with 48% of the vote there was a clear winner: Sone Aluko. The young Englishman has put in some fine performances since returning to Pittodrie in the summer for a bargain £70,000. He is now a established favourite of the Red Army. The only question is how long we will be able to hold onto him if he continues to improve.

Second in our poll was ex-Celtic, Wolves and Dundee Utd left back Charlie Mulgrew. Having won international honours at Under 21 level for Scotland, it is clear Mulgrew was another high profile signing of whom much would be expected. His free kick at Motherwell was as good a way as any to announce his arrival and it certainly seems Calderwood has done a good bit of business by paying Wolves £200,000 for Mulgrew`s services.

The final noteable result of our poll was the fact our new central industrious central midfielders, Gary McDonald and Mark Kerr won only 12% of the vote between them. Perhaps Dons fans expect more to come from them or perhaps the duo have simply been overshadowed by the two flair players already mentioned.
