Fans’ favourite Barry Nicholson is on the brink of signing for Preston North End on a two year deal, according to BBC Sport. Nicholson has been linked with a move away from Aberdeen every transfer window since he joined, yet when he was finally free to go, no-one seemed interested, until now.

I myself find it strange why no interest came in for Nicholson. He is hard working, scores plenty of goals, and most of all, is quality. Most Aberdeen midfielders for the past few seasons have only ticked box number one of those three.

Nicholson’s goals also seemed to always come at the right time. The 3rd in the famous 3-2 comeback at Tannadice in the cup and the last minute equaliser against Hearts at the end of the 06/07 season that basically got us into Europe instead of Hearts spring to mind..

His never give up attitude, even when we seemed to be, or were, in a hopeless situation also won him over with the Dons fans.

Wherever Bazza goes, I, along with the rest of the Aberdeen support I presume, wish him well for the future and thanks for the memories.
