Aberdeen’s preparations for our Europa League qualifier continued with a win over fellow European hopefuls St Johnstone.

The eight-two win against Brechin on Thursday was followed up by the one-nil over St Johnstone over the weekend, secured courtesy of Adam Rooney’s latest goal as he looks to continue the coming season as he ended the last!

Rooney bagged himself a hat-trick at Glebe Park and his second half penalty, after Niall McGinn was brought down with a little under 20-minutes to play, won our latest pre-season friendly against our Premiership rivals.

Kenny McLean collected a knock against Brechin and that kept him out of St Johnstone win but it’s still anticipated that the midfielder will be fit to travel to Macedonia for the first round qualifier with Shkendija in Skopje.

Also involved in this win, making his first appearance since his season-long loan from Liverpool, was Danny Ward who came on as a second half sub for Scott Brown.
