After Jimmy Calderwood bragged during the week about splashing cash in the summer and completely rebuilding the squad, it came as a surprise (well, not really) when I turned over to the back page of today’s Press and Journal and read two columns of excuses from Willie Miller informing the red army that Mr. Calderwood will be spending flock all this summer.

I feel the urge to go up to Miller or another member of the board and politely ask where the money from the European run went, in which we gained approximately 3 million pounds from getting to the last 32 and the huge amount of TV money. Where the money from the two cup runs, which from TV and attendance (we played 9 games, including one at Parkhead and two semi-finals) must have totalled at least 3/4 million pounds, went. Where the money from our sales of Russell Anderson – £1 million, Chris Clark – £200,000, and Michael Hart – £100,000, went. And where the money for our 4th consecutive top 6 finish has gone. All that totals up to approximately £5,050,000.

That amount of money should be enough to build a team that will finish 3rd, a mile away from 4th and possibly cause a scare for one of the OF at one point of the season.

That’s all I have to say.
