Kilmarnock returned to winning ways with a 1-0 win and a good performance against Aberdeen at Rugby Park on Saturday (Oct 14).

Killie dominated the match and should have won more comfortably, but it was left to Gary Wales to grab the only goal in the second half.

Wales collected a David Fernandez cross 18-yards out and ran towards the goal before finding the net via Jamie Langfield’s post after 69 minutes.

Danny Invincibile, Steven Naismith and David Fernandez all had chances for the home side, while Aberdeen’s only real efforts were a Lee Miller header, which James Fowler cleared off the line, and Darren Mackie’s disappointing strike when he was one-on-one with Graeme Smith.

The story of the afternoon was told by the statistics – Killie had eight shots on target to the Dons two and they made their pressure count.

Killie are now fourth in the league on 15 points – and only below Rangers on goal difference – while Aberdeen are three points and three places behind in seventh.
