Stevie May left St Johnstone to sign for Sheffield Wednesday last summer but his spell in England hasn’t worked as hoped so he might be back in Scotland next season with reports linking him with Aberdeen.

The Daily Record quotes a ‘source’ said to be close to Derek McInnes as saying that talks have opened with the Championship side to bring the 22-year-old to Pittodrie next season.

Such talks have started positively with the indication being it’s a deal that can be done.

‘Derek is already working on his plans for next season and what he needs to do to improve the team. He has opened dialogue with Sheffield Wednesday about a loan deal for Stevie May and the initial discussions have been positive.

‘Obviously, a lot depends on what Sheffield Wednesday want to do for the new season but there’s a feeling it might suit all parties if Stevie was to go back to Scotland and get himself back into the limelight.’

Goals aren’t something that we’re lacking but you’ve got to keep looking to move forward and if we can bring the striker back to Scotland, and he finds the form that got him his move previously it should be a win-win for all concerned as we look to build on this season that’s seen us push Celtic close.
