There absolutely no doubting the Dons are set for an ‘Almaty’ test against Kairat Almaty in the latest leg of the European adventure but it’s a test we’re ready for having flown overnight and landed in Kazakhstan this morning.

Not only is this the biggest test, the Rijeka tie that we overcame in the second qualifying round was arguably viewed as – dare I say it – the ‘tougher’ task, but it is also the longest trek after a 5,000 mile flight!

Niall McGinn was in positive mood when Aberdeen arrived for the Europa League third round qualifying tie against Kairat, he didn’t say much but the Evening Express has quoted the striker as saying.

‘It will be a massive test but one we are looking forward to.’

I think ‘looking forward’ to it is something we’ve got to do.

It’ll be another massive test, as said, but if we play with confidence and enjoyment it’ll help our chances. Returning to Scotland with an away goal or two and a draw, ideally a win, would help even more….

Without a doubt the time difference and the heat will play a part, even though this has been played down by Barry Robson, but we’ve just got to deal with that and take it in our stride.

A first training season should have been undertaken, I believe this was meant to be at 4pm our time, at the Central Stadium?
