Eight points behind 3rd, fifteen points to play for, surely Aberdeen can’t pull off the greatest season recovery since Rangers won the league with 2 games remaining 5 points behind Celtic?

This time last week, we were celebrating scraping into the top 6, but now without the Scottish Cup final to worry about, we can concentrate on the league…finally. But is it all too little too late?

Firstly we need to hope Motherwell pick up only 6 points or less. Quite possible after the teams’ terrible loss of form after the untimely death of captain Phil O’Donnell. They’ve only won 5 of 12 league games since then and have been unable to string together three wins on the trot.

Secondly, Hibs are only 6 points infront and if we beat them, we’re almost guaranteed to finish ahead of them.

Third, United have only managed 5 league wins in 2008 and have lacked consistency in the second half of the season. Also only 6 points ahead of Aberdeen, a win against them should mean we finish ahead of them.

However, all of the above is with hope we win our last 4 games and take at least a point from Parkhead, but with a different Dons team turning up for every game, that does seem rather unlikely to put it nicely.

But until it’s mathematically impossible for us to finish 3rd, never give up.
