Dutch fans’ favourite Karim Touzani yesterday signed a three year contract with Sparta Rotterdam, Aberdeen have confirmed. The move has come as a surprise and a really sh*t one at that to most members of the red army, including myself.

Touzani was in my opinion the best player to play for the Dons in a long time. He looked in his place at the Vicente Calderon, along side the likes of Aguero, Rodriguez and Forlan. We can’t say that for any other of our players.

However, for some unknown reason, Calderwood would refuse to play him unless he had to. Last season he only made 18 appearances, and after a first season full of injuries, many Dons fans were lead to believe this was the case for his limited appearances in the 07/08 season. However, some quick research shows he was only unavailable for approximately 6 weeks in total, which is not unusual.

Neither RedWeb or BBC tells us if there was a transfer fee involved, but if there wasn’t, it would undoubtedly spark anger within many sections of the Aberdeen support. Touzani still had a year left on his contract.

It wouldn’t be so bad if we had a) any money b) a big, or even normal sized squad c) a manager who could find a replacement as good or better d) any quality midfielders left.

I won’t go any further until we learn if there was a fee involved, but if there wasn’t then that’s an absolute disgrace and a terrible management and business decision.
