Vital Quotes:

Jimmy Calderwood to Reds Online, ‘When Zander is playing to his full potential he has to ability to stop a top class player like Hesselink,’ said Calderwood.

‘He scored for Celtic against us up here last season when he netted what was a very sloppy goal and will be a threat again.

‘I know Jan well as he played with my son Scott at FC Twente in Holland when they were a bit younger.

‘He’s a very dangerous player but Zander has got what it takes to stop him.’

Michael Hart to the Daily Record about the match against Celtic, ‘We know we are good enough to get results and we also know we can play a lot better.
‘It’s is a bit annoying because we believe that if we start to play the way we can, we’ll get positive results. It’s not happened but it is only early days.
‘Look at England and you’ll see that Manchester United have only two points after two games and haven’t won so we know it can happen and we’ll just keep plugging away.
‘Hopefully, the fans will pack into Pittodrie and we can give them something to cheer with a win.
‘It is going to be tough because Celtic are champions but the pressure is on them.’

Jimmy Calderwood to the P&J on Sunday’s match, ‘The games between the sides have all been close but we haven’t won any of them.

‘I can’t remember the last time we scored first against them. On the occasions where we have won, we have been in the lead. That is why the first goal is so important in these games.’
‘We haven’t reached the standards we are capable of yet and we are going to need to do that this weekend.

Jimmy Calderwood on Craig Brewster to Reds Online, ‘Craig made an impact in the closing stages of the game against Hearts.

‘I wouldn’t have any qualms about handing him a starting place against Celtic.

‘An experienced player like Craig could prove to be very important on Sunday.’

Jimmy Calderwood on Celtic possibly being tired after their Moscow mission, ‘Travelling is always tiring but Celtic will have come straight back to Glasgow following their game and I don’t think they will be tired coming here on Sunday.

‘Gordon Strachan had a good season last year and he will be looking to repeat it this year. He has strengthened his squad and Celtic will be a formidable side for anyone.

‘The age of the team has been reduced by around six years and Gordon has good young players at the club in Mark Wilson, Scott Brown and Derek Riordan. He has a strong squad which can compete but he is also spending wisely for the future.

Gary Caldwell, ‘Aberdeen always have a good team and are difficult to play against at Pittodrie.

‘Jimmy Calderwood has them playing really well and it’s going to be difficult. Every game in the SPL is difficult but this is going to be one of the toughest ones.

‘Pittodrie is always a hostile atmosphere and it will be a hard game for us as they strengthened their squad in the summer with good players.’

Aberdeen Fc Team News:

Aberdeen will be without the injured Jeffrey De Visscher, Le Mair and Richie Byrne but should be at full strength besides that as Jackie Mcnamara should have recovered from his knock.

Player to watch: Jackie McNamara

the ex-Celtic captain should be instrumental in contributing to the downfall of his former side as his Man of the Match performance last week shows he is starting to show his best form.

Celtic FC Team News:

Boruc will be given a late fitness test alongside Kenny Miller and Scott McDonald is free from suspension to play if chosen.

Player to watch: Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink

The Dutchman claimed his first goal of the season last week and he seems to have a God given right to score against Aberdeen. Zander will have to be on his toes. And not his bum.
