A NIGHT TO CHERISH

What a sight the city of Aberdeen was on Thursday night after the match had finished, it was glorious. People standing in the streets singing “STAND FREE” at the top of their voices, this was our night to party. People I was out with (non-football fans) made comments “you`d think you just won the cup” a bit shocked I replied Celtic and Rangers had theirs it was our turn to bask in the jubilation of what has been an amazing week but that night mattered more to so many dedicated Aberdeen fans.

Some may have feared the Dons wouldn`t have been able to come through the difficult away fixture. We all knew Dnipro were going to come out and hit us with all they have but with Jamie Langfield in superb form and a solid defence the Dons were able to hold off their attacks. Chances going forward were few but when Ricky Foster fed that beautiful cross through and for it to find the diving head of Darren Mackie, Aberdeen fans hearts stopped and gasped in the realisation that we were 1-0 up after having been on the back foot for most of the game. Unfortunately that was to be the case for the rest of the game as Dnipro piled even more pressure on Aberdeen, which led to them equalising and a nerve jangling finish to the game. Credit to Aberdeen for holding on to their slim lead but I think the credit has to go to Langfield and the many important saves he made.

So where would the Red Army like to go on holiday?

Germany?

Perhaps Greece?

Hmmm the South of England? lol

LET`S HAVE NO TALK ABOUT A GROUP OF DEATH!!….WELL NOT YET ANYWAY!

    Nice article.

Wouldn’t say we were on the back foot as we were certainly in control and they were becoming increasingly frustrated but they definitely won the game had it been down to possession!
