Close call for Smith

Jamie Smith and Jimmy Calderwood will be happy that Walter Smith enquired about taking Jamie to Ireland for the Scotland B international after injuries ruled out Shaun Maloney and Kevin Thomson.

It was decided that as Jamie has only recently overcome his own injury problems that it may be too soon to risk him in this match and better to break him in gently. With Lee Miller and Chris Clark already in the B squad and Severin and Anderson usually in the 1st squad, it seems the Dons are returning to the days when at least six players from the team would be regular internationals.

Calderwood will be keen to keep the ex-Celtic man fit as his pace, skill and ability to get down the wing are missed when he is not available and his perfectly placed shot for the opener against Motherwell proves that he is very dangerous when shooting from outside the box.

Alan Rattray Testimonial match.

Jimmy Calderwood will take a strong squad to face Forfar tomorrow night as he looks to give some of his fringe players and those who have just returned from injury a run out in Alan Rattray’s testimonial. Calderwood will look to give Steve Lovell and Karim Touzani a good period of the match and also included in the squad are Winter, Macaulay, Donald, Diamond and Soutar. The match has a 7:30pm kick off tomorrow evening at Station Park, Forfar.
