Aberdeen host Hearts this weekend in a game which will make or break the dons season. A win would see the dons back in the hunt for a European slot, while anything but a win would mean an immediate end to the dons’ season.

Vital Quotes:

Aberdeen manager, Jimmy Calderwood spoke to the BBC:
‘Hearts is another must-win game for us. Obviously if we draw and Dundee United lose at Celtic it might still be OK but it would make life an awful lot easier for us if we could win the game.

‘We have to attack them from the start as a draw would be a better result for them than it would be for us.

‘We know what it can be like at Pittodrie in the big games and we need that again.’

Reds’ midfielder Gary McDonald spoke to the EE ahead of tonight’s match:
“Hearts lost the derby game which is going to dent their confidence.

“Now they will maybe start to doubt themselves a bit.

“If we beat them maybe they will have a bit of a wobble.”

Aberdeen Team News:

Aberdeen are without Zander Diamond, Derek Young and Darren Mackie while Mark Kerr is suspended. Andrew Considine, Lee Mair and Jamie Smith are all doubts for the match.

Player to watch: Scott Severin

With Aberdeen so short of options at the back Severin will have to play well if Aberdeen are to win. The dons fans will be looking for Severin, as captain, to lead the team (something many claim he is incapable of doing). This game will give a clear indication of Severin’s commitment or otherwise to the club.

Hearts Team News:

Palazuelos misses out for the visitors through injury while Christos Karipidis is suspended.

Player to watch: Christain Nade

The overweight forward only seems able to score against Aberdeen.
